Description
From the point where the Theologos loop begins its climb, a wide path heads east, crosses part of the plateau and climbs the slopes of Mount Kroukelos. To the north there is only the sea; to the south stands the island’s highest peak, Chorafakia.
The terrain is dramatic — cliffs and scree tumble towards the sea, and the path, reinforced in places with stone walls, clings to the steepest sections. It ends at the chapel of Stavros, the last place of pilgrimage in the island’s highlands.
